Knowing that breast cancer exists is not enough, spread awareness about it and save lives!
Last October 3, 2015, ChiroCarolina® became one with the people of Charlotte in the fight against breast cancer. Led by the biggest breast cancer organization in the world, Susan G. Komen, women and their families came together for the Race For A Cure, one of the fund raising activities of the organization that aims to fund not just research for a cure for breast cancer, but also breast health education, screenings, diagnostics, and treatment support services.
Nancy G. Brinker founded Susan G. Komen in 1982 after breast cancer took the life of her sister, Suzy. It is currently the largest breast cancer organization in the world and has released over $800 million worth of funds for research and more than $1.6 billion for education, screening, and treatment to date. Through its fund raising activities, the organization hopes to widen their reach and help save more lives.
Ten years after Susan G. Komen was founded, Penelope Wilson founded the Susan G. Komen Charlotte Chapter for similar reasons. After breast cancer took the life of her partner, Annie Wingo, Wilson decided to support the cause of putting an end to breast cancer by establishing the Charlotte chapter of Susan G. Komen. The Charlotte Chapter first held the Race For A Cure in 1997 and it has become an annual event since then.
To show their support for the fight against breast cancer, ChiroCarolina®, Charlotte’s most trusted chiropractic care clinic, signed up as one of the sponsors of the Race For A Cure. ChiroCarolina® has always been a huge supporter of medical research, which is why the Susan G. Komen foundation is very close to the hearts of the clinic’s doctors and staff.
